Description

This is a headstone dated 1792, located approximately 8 meters south of the porch of the Church of St Michael in Clyst Honiton. Made of purple sandstone, the upright slab stands about 1 meter high and features a shaped top. An inscribed line outlines the stone and frames the inscription, which is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The inscription commemorates Samuel Spear, who died in 1792, his wife Susanna, who died in 1763, and also includes memorials for his daughter, who died in 1850, and his granddaughter, who died in 1828.
