Description

This headstone, dating from 1783, is made of cut sandstone and is located 10 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels. It features a small stone with a shaped top that faces west. At the top, there is an oval panel with a moulded border that contains a relief carving of a figure representing death, holding a scythe and hourglass, and approaching two seated draped figures. The panel is encircled by the text 'Be Prudent ...... seem Time well spent'. Below this, there is an inscription dedicated to Jane, the wife of James Tate of Guyzance Mill.
