Description
The premises occupied by Ladysmith House Antiques date from around 1820-1830 and are three storeys high. The front is made of red brick and has a slight concave curve. It features straight projecting eaves and a low pitch gable end slate roof. The first floor has two outer windows that are bowed sashes, with flat stucco heads that include keystones and modillion cornices above. The other windows are recessed sashes with intact glazing bars, flat stucco arches with voussoirs and keystones.
On the ground floor, there is a Victorian symmetrical arrangement of two shop fronts beneath a frieze and modillion cornice. Three rectangular bay windows are separated by thin colonnettes that divide tall lights. There are house doors at each end, each with an entablature that returns over them. These doors consist of six fielded panels and rectangular fanlights, with panelled reveals and soffits. The outer side of the steps features spear head rails with an urn newel.
This building forms a group with the premises occupied by Potbury and Sons Ltd.
