Description

Squance Headstone is located approximately 9 metres south-east of the chancel of the Church of St Michael. This headstone, dated 1799, commemorates Elizabeth Squance. It is made of limestone and stands about 0.6 metres high, featuring a head shaped like a bifurcated scroll. The inscription is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, noting the death of Elizabeth Squance in 1799 and mentioning her first husband, Richard Arscott, although the date of his death is not visible.
