Description
Barnwell House, located on the west side of Old Fore Street, dates back to 1633 but has features from around 1800. This two-storey building has a stuccoed front and a slate roof with thin moulded eaves cornice. It includes two dormers and three first-floor windows, which are tripartite sashes with intact glazing bars, along with a central round-headed sash that has intersecting glazing bars at the top. The central entrance features a door with four fielded panels and two flush panels, topped by a semi-circular fanlight with "Gothic" glazing bars. On either side of the entrance are later 19th-century rectangular bay shop fronts. The listed buildings on the west side of Old Fore Street form a group.
