Description
3 and 4 Bulverton Cottages, also known as "Old Manor Cottage" and "Bulverton," are a pair of two-storey cottages dating from 1633, located at right angles to Dark Lane. They are constructed of painted stone rubble with slate weathering at the base and cob above, topped with a thatched roof. The cottages feature one stone chimney made of ashlar masonry, likely from the 17th century. There are three windows, with half dormers on the first floor that have thatch "eyebrowed" over them, and 19th-century three-light casements. At the rear, there is an oak door frame with a four-centred arch. These cottages are part of a small rural development situated just north of Sidmouth, near the junction of Dark Lane and Bulverton Road.
