Description
This building is a barn located 150 meters west of Columbjohn Farmhouse. It may date back to the 16th century in part, with some rebuilding and reroofing done in the 19th century. The structure is made of random volcanic trap rubble and has a dry slate roof, featuring a gabled end on the left side and a half-hipped roof on the right. The barn is situated opposite the ruined gatehouse of Columbjohn Mansion, and the lower courses of masonry might be from the 16th century.
On the front, there is a wagon porch to the right with a pair of plank doors, which is matched by a similar entrance at the rear. To the left, there is a large single-light round-headed double-chamfered opening, likely from the 1840s. The roof was later modified in the 19th century, featuring principals with a king post, tie beam, and diagonal struts. The front wall extends to the left.
