Description
The barn south of Johnson House dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of sandstone rubble with a slate roof. The west wall features breathers and putlog holes, along with two wide entrances that have segmental arches, projecting keystones, and a slight chamfer. To the left of these entrances is a door with a chamfered surround. On the right, there is an addition that includes a door with a chamfered surround and a window with plain reveals. Adjacent to the door is a blocked opening that has a re-set battlemented lintel inscribed with '1641 BB IB'. The gables are topped with copings and kneelers. The left-hand gable wall contains three shippon doors, all with a slight chamfer, although the middle door is blocked. Inside, the barn features trusses with collars and tie beams, some made of softwood.
