Description

Johnson House, built in 1680, is accompanied by later farm buildings, all constructed from slobbered sandstone rubble with a slate roof. The house is two storeys high with an attic and originally featured one bay on each side of a two-storey porch, which has since been extended to the left and had its eaves level raised.

On the left side of the porch, there are two-light flat-faced mullioned windows with plain stone surrounds. The right side features rebated and chamfered mullioned windows, including a four-light and a one-light window on the ground floor, both under a drip course, and a similar three-light window with a hood on the first floor. An attic window has plain reveals and a horizontal sliding sash with glazing bars. The porch, which now has a catslide roof, includes a six-light rebated and chamfered mullioned and transomed window on the first floor. Above the door, which has a moulded surround and a battlemented lintel inscribed 'ITS 1680', a drip course rises.

The left extension has two ground-floor windows with plain reveals and a re-set three-light mullioned window on the first floor. The farm building to the right has a blank front wall, except for a window with glazing bars and a plain stone surround. There are chimneys on each side of the original house and to the left of the first-floor window of the left-hand extension. Inside, the house features some chamfered and stopped main joists, a spice cupboard door inscribed 'ITE', and some turned balusters remaining on the attic stair.
