Description
Cubbyclose Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of cob with a stone plinth and has a plastered exterior beneath a half-hipped thatched roof. The cottage features end stacks with brick shafts and is two storeys high.
At the rear, all windows are 20th century casements, with the upper windows set beneath eyebrow eaves and featuring boarded gables. The central porch includes two 2-light pointed windows. There is one 19th century 2-light window on the right-hand end and another on the left-hand end, along with a late 20th century door and a large window at the rear.
Inside, the left-hand room has a fireplace with chamfered stone jambs, one of which has a run-out stop. The right-hand room also has a similar fireplace that includes a side oven. The roof is supported by three trusses, with the principals extending down into the walls and resting on timber uprights. The trusses are halved and morticed at the apex, with collars and purlins that are trenched.
