Description
Caddihoe is a cottage dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of cob with a stone plinth and is rendered under a hipped thatched roof. The building has a two-room plan and stands two storeys high, with a rear extension from the 19th century made of stone and featuring a gabled-end slate roof, as well as a lean-to at the right-hand end.
The front of the cottage is slightly asymmetrical, featuring a two-window range. There is an off-centre doorway under a slate-roofed porch, with a two-light window on each side. The upper windows are set under boarded gables in thatch. The casements are timber and all date from the 20th century. On the left-hand side elevation, there is a large external stack and a bulge for a bake-oven.
Inside, the ground floor rooms have chamfered beams, and the left-hand room contains a large but unadorned fireplace. The roof, which is not fully accessible, has exposed purlins and one truss, with a chamfered collar that is halved into the principal. A second collar and upright support have been added.
