Description

Pratt's Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of cob with a stone plinth and is rendered beneath a thatched roof with gabled ends. The building features a three-room through passage plan and stands two storeys high.

The front of the farmhouse has a formal arrangement of four windows. The doorway is located to the left of centre and is flanked by two two-light windows, with a three-light window to the right. All windows are timber casements from the 19th century. On the first floor, there are three three-light windows and one two-light window, all with chamfered mullions and eight leaded panes in each light, complete with glazing bars. The third upper window retains its original semi-circular catch-lock. There are external end stacks with brick shafts.

At the rear, there is a 20th-century lean-to that occupies the central third of the elevation, featuring a doorway but no windows, and a rear internal lateral stack.

Inside, the right-hand end room has a fireplace with a timber lintel that is chamfered with hollow step stops. The middle room contains a cross beam that is chamfered but has no stops.

The roof structure consists of six principals with double collars, side pegs, and a cross at the apex that is pegged, along with purlins located at the rear of the trusses.
