Description

SID ROAD 1. 1633 (West Side) Hill's SY 1288 7/278 II GV 2. Circa 1800 house with early to mid C19 enlargements. Block nearest road is earliest part. 2 storeys rough cast. Parapet with coping, the ends swept up. Gable end slate roof, ornamental bargeboards added at time of enlargements. 3 window symmetrical front. Recessed sashes, no glazing bars on 1st floor. 2-light C19 casements ground floor. Central entrance with good doorcase of thin pilasters superimposed on broad ones, dogtooth decoration to caps, dosserets and triglyphs above carrying open pediment. Recessed door of 4 fielded and 2 flush panels, panelled reveals and soffit. Very delicate leaded fanlight with semi-circle inscribed in rectangle with swagged radii and fans to corners. The C19 two storeyed extension is set back and has paired sashes with marginal glazing. Projecting from C19 part is a bowed end conservatory with 2-light windows and glazed roof with finial at ridge end over curved part. The rear elevation facing across yard to Hill's Cottage has 4 sash windows, glazing bars intact and tall central stair light to old block. The C19 extension has 4 paired sashes on this front.
