Description
Woolcombe House, dating from 1633, was once one of the manor houses and has been restored by Miss Leigh Browne. It now serves as the Sidmouth Museum. The building has a rough cast front and is two storeys high, although it has undergone significant alterations. It features a gable end slate roof and retains the remains of an external chimney with offsets. Inside, a ceiling has been inserted in the Medieval Hall, but the open timber roof remains on the first floor, with beams and other woodwork visible throughout.
