Description

Orchard Cottage is a detached cottage dating to the 17th century, with later alterations. It is built of roughcast cob on stone footings, with a half-hipped thatched roof. Originally a 2-room, central cross-passage plan house, it now includes a later rear lean-to extension. The stacks have been dismantled. The front elevation has an irregular 2-window arrangement, with 3-light casement windows set under eyebrow eaves. The ground floor features one 3-light window and two deeply recessed 2-light casement windows. A slated lean-to canopy covers the central doorway. 20th-century casement windows are located at the left-hand end and at the rear. The interior was not inspected, but roughly chamfered ceiling beams are visible.
