Description
Two cottages, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. The cottages are built with roughcast cob on stone footings, and have gabled-end slate roofs. No.1 is a two-room cross-passage cottage, while No.2 is a single-room cottage with a rear wing; it’s possible No.2 originally had a three-room, cross-passage plan. There’s an external end stack to the right of No.1, and an internal front stack to No.1, both with brick shafts. The cottages have two storeys. The front elevation has a three-window range. The first floor of No.1 has two sash windows with 3 panes up and 6 panes down – one horned, the other hornless – and a two-light casement window to No.2. The ground floor of No.1 has two 12-pane sash windows, one horned and one unhorned, and one similar window to No.2. There are two fielded panel doors, the door to No.1 having a moulded canopy supported on console brackets. The right-hand side elevation features three three-light casement windows and a planked door, with a curved corner at the rear. The interior was not inspected.
