Description

The Otterton Brook leat walls and bridges, located alongside the north side of Fore Street in Otterton, date from the 19th and 20th centuries. The walls are constructed of random local rubble, with some sections featuring hard limestone and granite coping, while most have coping made of 19th or 20th-century brick. There are also patches of 19th and 20th-century brick and 20th-century concrete. The bridges, which vary in date and material, include timber, stone rubble, and brick. The leat facilitates the flow of Otterton Brook along Fore Street and is crossed by several small bridges. This leat is a significant visual feature of Otterton Village, which also contains a number of attractive listed buildings.
