Description
The cart shed, located on the north-eastern side of Flintstones, is likely a former barn dating from the 18th century, with possible earlier origins, and was refurbished in the late 19th century. Its walls are constructed from various materials, including cob on stone rubble footings, some 18th century English bond brick, flint rubble, and late 19th century brick, with late 19th century brick quoins. The roof is thatched and hipped at both ends. Currently functioning as a garage, the cart shed features blind long walls, with garage doors on the north-west front end and a doorway in the rear end wall. The interior is open to a 5-bay roof supported by A-frame trusses with spiked lap-jointed collars and X-apexes. This cart shed is part of a charming group of listed buildings along Otterton Fore Street.
