Description

Ford Bridge is a road bridge over the River Otter, built in the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed from local stone and flint rubble, with limestone ashlar used for the cutwaters and abutments, and brick voussoirs and vaults. The bridge features two spans with low segmental arches that spring from low vertical abutments. The central cutwaters have rounded ends and are low, stepping back to the bridge walls, which rise to the parapet without any interruption from a stringcourse. The parapet is topped with 20th-century concrete rounded coping and there are no terminal piers.
