Description

The Monkton Village Pump is a village pump dated 1842, constructed from Membury stone ashlar in a Gothic style. The pump housing has a square plan with panelled sides featuring cinquefoil heads, set on a chamfered plinth. There is a worn inscription around the cornice, with only the date still legible. The cornice has an embattled crest and is topped with a worn moulded pedestal and ball finial. The disused spout is located on the road side, and there is a granite trough positioned below.
