Description
Otterton Bridge is a road bridge over the River Otter, built around 1840. It is constructed from local conglomerate ashlar with some granite detailing. The bridge features three spans with low segmental arches that spring from a plain projecting impost above vertical abutments. The vaults are plain and made with large, carefully-shaped voussoirs. The projecting cutwaters have pointed ends and rise to the impost level, topped with low granite coping. Just above the cutwaters, the wall slightly protrudes forward, ascending to the coping. A drip course projects at road level, sloping up towards the center. The parapet coping slopes slightly outward, and the parapet itself curves outward at both ends, with terminal piers that project only externally.
