Description

CHURCH STREET 1. 1633 (South West Side) No 1 (part of premises occupied by Field's) SY 1287 1/233 II GV 2. Early C19 with later C19 alterations. A symmetrical stucco faced eleva- tion of 3 storeys with shop front added later. Roof concealed by project- ing moulded cornice. 3 windows on 2nd floor: slightly recessed sashes, glazing bars intact, in moulded frames with moulded sills. Heavy drip moulds added. 1st floor has Victorian shallow canted bay outer windows, the side lights round headed with fluted brackets on leaf blocks support- ing cornice. The centre window is similar to those on 1st floor, but no glazing bars. Shop front of 2 canted bays with hipped roofs, rosettes in frieze end moulded cornice. Central doorway, partly glazed. No 1 Church Street forms a group with Nos 2 to 4 (consec), Waterloo House, Barretts Flat, and premises occupied by Field's. Market Place.
