Description

Little Cob, also known as Merton Cottage and Tudor Cottage, is a row of two-storey cottages dating back to around 1500. The cottages are constructed of stone and cob, and have new gable-end slate roofs. They feature two projecting stone chimneys with offsets. The windows are later casements, with two and three lights. Tudor Cottage has been considerably altered and restored, while the others have undergone modernisation. Within Tudor Cottage is evidence of a screens passage and a rare painted screen featuring heraldry, suggesting a date within the reign of Henry VII in the 16th century. Merton Cottage contains a hammer-head wall post on the ground floor; other interior beams have been boxed in.
