Description

CORSHAM THE CHEQUERS ST 87 SE 1/18 Mynte Farmhouse GV II

Farmhouse, C17 origins, early C18 and later C19, rubble stone with stone-tiled roofs. Two storeys and attic, 'L'-plan. Earliest section is north-east wing, 2-window range with end stacks. North front has ground floor left 2-light recessed ovolo-moulded mullion window and, to right, 3-light C18 bead-moulded window to each floor, ashlar panels beneath and dripstone to lower window. Rear has 2 similar 3-light windows to each floor, one altered for inserted door, dripstones to ground floor. Two-light C17 recessed chamfered mullion window and hoodmould in east end wall. C19 addition at west end with long range of 2 storey outbuildings running south. North front has coped gable and mullion windows, 2- light to attic, two 2-lights to first floor, door and 3-light to ground floor. Large west wall outside stack. Roof is hipped down at south end to range of 2 storey outbuildings, the first with west side-wall stack flanked by first-floor casements, the second, slightly higher with 3-light casements with brick sills, one above, one below with cambered head and door to left.
