Description
Old Road Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, built of rubble stone with a stone tiled roof and end wall stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and features a double fronted design. Each floor has two recessed ovolo-moulded 2-light mullion windows with hoodmoulds, and there is a large central gabled stone tiled porch with a timber lintel and seats inside. The entrance consists of a plank door set in an oak frame. There are two gabled dormers on the roof, and a similar 2-light window on the east end of the first floor has been blocked. The left side of the rear has two similar 2-light windows, while the right side has a rear wing that includes 2-light windows with hoodmoulds on both floors and a door to the left. Inside, there is a Tudor-arched fireplace at the east end of the main range.
