Description
This is a 17th-century headstone located in the churchyard, 2 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St. Peter in Broad Hinton. It is made of limestone and features a shaped top with an incised design of a bowl and leaves. The inscription reads: "HERE LYETH THE BODY OF / HENRY WITT WHO DEPARTED / THIS LIFE APRIL Y 2 : 1685 / AS THOU ART NOW SO ONCE / WAS I : IN HELTH AND STRENGTH / THOUGH HERE I LYE / AS I AM NOW SOE SHALT THOV / BE : PREPARE FOR DEATH DAND / FOLLOW MEE."
