Description
Marlborough House is a late 18th-century house, altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brickwork with a slate roof and has an ‘L’ plan. The garden front features two bays with central French windows and 12-pane sash windows, each with a gauged brick lintel. The road front, of five bays, has irregular fenestration, including some original leaded iron casements. There is an open brick porch with a part-glazed, six-panelled door. The eaves are cogged brick, with some pipe vents. The house has a Mansard roof, with two six-paned dormers facing the garden and two leaded dormers facing the road. Later extensions are visible in the re-entrant angle at the rear.
