Description

Waldron's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to the early 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of squared and coursed rubble with stone dressings, featuring oak mullions and lintels, ashlar copings, and a double Roman concrete tile roof, which was formerly pantiles. The building has a tall paired lateral stone stack, an end stone stack with a brick cap, and a rear brick stack. The plan is cruciform with gabled ends to each wing, and it stands two storeys high with attics, each wing being of l-bay width.

The south elevation has blocked windows on the upper floors and 19th-century casements on the ground floor, while the east and north facades display chamfered oak cross-mullions, with the ground floor on the east front featuring eight lights. There is a doorway in the angle on the south front that includes a panelled 19th-century door, a rectangular fanlight, and a lean-to porch with latticework posts. The farmhouse has a moulded plinth, stepped copings to the gables, and crocketed pinnacles at the apexes.

Inside, original deep-chamfered beams and stud partitions can be found in all rooms, along with several Tudor-arched fireplaces that have later moulded mantels. At the time of the last survey in July 1986, the house, both inside and out, was in a very poor state of repair.
