Description
Giles's Green Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from the early 17th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th century and restoration in the late 20th century. The building features a brick sub-structure and a south-west end wall, with timber framing and colourwashed render above. It has a stone slate roof with a central brick stack. The farmhouse has a T-shaped plan with a central staircase tower on the north front, and it stands two storeys tall with an attic. At the time of the last survey in July 1986, all windows were being replaced with single, two, and three-light casements. The original timber frame is preserved beneath the render and is visible on either side of the staircase tower, which has a 20th-century plank door. There are also two lean-to extensions at the east and west ends, casement windows on the south front, and three dormers. Inside, there are several bar-stop-chamfered beams and a Tudor-arched fireplace in the ground floor room to the left.
