Description

The Old Rectory is a former rectory, now used as a rest home, dating back to the late 18th century. It has undergone significant alterations and additions in the late 19th century and again in 1936. The original 18th-century core is constructed of brick and heavily covered in ivy, while a later 19th-century addition has half-timbering and plasterwork, and the 1936 wing is of coursed rubble. All have stone slate roofs, with the original 18th-century section featuring a hip roof. Tall brick stacks are present, along with a stone stack to the east. The building is L-shaped, comprising the original 18th-century range to the left, a 1936 wing to the right, and 19th-century additions to the rear.

The 18th-century block has sash windows: paired 18-pane sashes to the ground floor and paired 8-pane sashes above. The 1936 wing features two- and three-light sash windows, a gabled dormer, and a gabled end bay with concrete facing tiles. A glazed conservatory, supported by Roman Doric columns, is situated in the angle between the 18th-century block and the rest of the building. The west front includes a 1936 segmental hood over a six-panel door, which has a spoked semicircular fanlight above. A leaded pane window is located to the right, and there is half-timbering to the left.

Inside, an early 19th-century marble fireplace is found in a ground floor room of the original 18th-century section.
