Description

Moorshall Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was altered in the later 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a stone slate roof, with a ridge stack and end stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic. The original 17th-century house is double-fronted and includes one hipped dormer, three-light ovolo-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds, and a central door in an oak frame. This door is set within a 19th-century roughcast and stone-slate roofed gabled porch that displays the Neeld family arms. To the left of the door, there is a window that has been replaced by an 18th-century three-light beaded window with a hoodmould. There is a one-window addition to the west, likely from the 19th century, which features an upper ovolo-moulded three-light window and a ground floor 20th-century door. The rear of the farmhouse has a hipped dormer, lean-to additions, and three 18th-century type three-light beaded mullion windows. The property was owned by the Chapman family until around 1700 and was sold to the Neeld estate in 1856.
