Description
Two chest tombs from the 18th century are located south of the chancel of the Church of St Margaret. The first tomb, situated two meters south of the chancel, dates from the mid to later 18th century. It features an oval plaque bordered on the south side and cherub-head spandrels, with drapery drops on each side. The tomb has a moulded base and cornice that breaks forward over the center, and lyre ends with oval plaques. The north side has a raised fielded plaque in the center and fielded panels on each side. The second tomb, located ten meters south of the chancel, dates to around 1700. It has framed rectangular plaques on each side, flanked by heavy Baroque scrolls, and a pulvinated frieze over the panel. Small oval medallions are positioned above the scrolls, and the lyre ends are richly carved with acanthus detail. The tomb also features a moulded base and cornice.
