Description
Manor Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was altered in 1842 for J. Neeld of Grittleton. It is constructed of squared rubble stone and features imitation stone slate roofs. The main gables have moulded coping with ball finials. The building has two storeys and an attic in the main range.
The main range, located on the right, includes two dripcourses and a two-window range of mullion-and-transom windows with hoodmoulds. The ground floor has a 4-light window with a king-mullion, while the upper floor has a 3-light window. The east end wall has a similar 3-light window, an attic 2-light window in the gable, and a ground floor date plaque reading '160X / JN / 1842'. The west end also features a similar attic window.
Adjoining the west side is an L-plan, two-storey range with a west stack that has two diagonal shafts. This range includes a one-window range of mullion windows with hoodmoulds, a 2-light window above, and a 3-light window below. There is a two-storey projecting porch bay to the right, which appears to be from 1842 but may reconstruct an original porch bay. The porch features a Tudor-arched doorway with a hoodmould and a plaque above, as well as a shallow ashlar 2-light oriel window from the 19th century on the first floor.
Beyond this, there is a long two-storey range with a coped west gable. It has two doors in the centre, a 3-light window at each end, and a 2-light window above, all with hoodmoulds. There is a single-storey outbuilding on the west end wall and a rear wall stack.
