Description
Wavertree Cottage and Moss Delph are a pair of estate cottages built around 1850, likely designed by J. Thomson for J. Neeld of Grittleton. The cottages are constructed from rubble stone and feature a stone slate eaves roof with diagonally-shafted stacks, including four on the ridge and two each on the rear and east side walls. They are two storeys high and have an L-plan layout, showcasing a picturesque cottage style with stone mullion windows. The gable end facing the road and the west gable each have a triangular bay with a stone tiled roof and a two-light window above. In the angle of the L-plan is a hipped, two-sided enclosed porch with shouldered-head doorways on the south and west sides. Above the porch on the west wall is a single light window set under an eaves-breaking dormer gable. The east end gable slightly projects beyond the south wing and features a two-light window on the first floor.
