Description

The Horseshoes is a pair of houses dating from the 17th century, with extensions added in the 18th century. They are constructed of rubble stone and feature a stone slate roof, along with ashlar end-wall and ridge stacks. The gables are coped, and the buildings rise two storeys with an attic that includes two hipped dormers.

The front facade has a four-window range. The right side, which is from the 17th century, showcases ovolo-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds. On the ground floor, there is a four-light window with a king-mullion and relieving arch, while the first floor has a three-light window. To the left, there is a projecting coped gabled bay with a two-light window above and a plank door with a timber lintel below. The left side features a two-window range of 18th-century style, with two-light cyma-moulded flush mullion windows and dripmoulds over the ground floor windows.

At the lower west end, there is an addition with a west stack. The rear of the building has a three-light ovolo-moulded window on each floor in the 17th-century section, along with a two-window range of cyma-moulded flush mullion windows and a central door to the right. The 17th-century section also includes a moulded Tudor-arched fireplace located at the ground floor west end.
