Description
Forge Cottage and Old Rectory Cottage are two houses dating from the 17th century with later additions. They feature a timber-frame and plaster construction, painted sandstone rubble, and a thatched roof with a brick ridge and end stack.
The exterior consists of two and a half bays, with a later rubble bay added to the left. The buildings are single-storey with an attic and have a four-window range that includes 18th, 19th, and 20th-century lights and casements. There are two 20th-century gabled porches with part-glazed double doors, along with two dormers and one half-dormer that have 19th-century two-light casements beneath eyebrow thatch. The left side of the building is returned and made of rubble, featuring a 19th-century light at the rear. The rear includes a 19th-century brick lean-to and an original rubble lean-to, with various window lights. The interior has not been inspected.
