Description

The gates to the cemetery in Wistanstow date from around 1836 to 1875. They consist of tall double gates made of cast iron, featuring ornamented bars and dogbars. Accompanying the gates are a pair of large cast-iron gate-piers, notable for their impressive Gothic detailing. Each pier is stamped with the names "HILL & SMITH, DUDLEY IRONWORKS, NR DUDLEY & 88 QUEEN VICTORIA STREET, LONDON."
