Description
High Street Cottages is a block of three cottages that has been converted into one house. It dates from the 17th century, with extensions made in the 18th century and in 1833. The building is constructed from colourwashed sarsen, chalkstone, and brick, topped with a thatched roof. It stands two storeys high and has four bays. The central two bays feature a lobby entry plan from the 17th century, with a half-glazed door sheltered by a flat canopy. To the left, there are sixteen-paned sash windows, and to the right, there are 3-light windows. The first extension to the right adds one bay and a rear wing, which includes a boarded door and 19th-century timber windows. The second extension to the left forms a third cottage, marked by a datestone that reads "High Street Cottages, 1833." This door has been blocked, and there are sixteen-pane and other windows present. The roof is hipped over both end bays. The interior has not been seen.
