Description
The Old Fire Station, located to the rear of Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4 Estate House, is a carriage house that has been converted into workshops. It dates from the 18th century and is built of English bond brick with a hipped tiled roof. The structure is square and single-storey, consisting of four bays. The front features four tall round-arched doorways with an impost band and planked, studded double doors. There is a stepped brick eaves cornice. The left and right sides of the building are windowless, while the rear has two inserted 20th-century metal casements. Inside, there are 20th-century partitions and inserted half-floors. This building is a well-preserved example of a carriage house that served as a fire station for the Longford Estate during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
