Description

The Statue of Fame is located under a cupola at the south end of the parterre in Longford Park. The statue, created by J. M. Rysbrack in 1767, is made of lead and is slightly less than lifesize. It is beautifully executed and stands on a three-step plinth. The cupola, designed by William Privett of Chilmark in 1759, features four Ionic columns that support a corniced square roof topped with a vase urn.
