Description

The Newman memorial is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 12 metres west of the tower of the Church of St. Michael in Melksham. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of slate. The tomb features flush panels on the sides, which include an incised oval panel and stylised floral decoration. It has a plain frieze and a cornice on its flat top. The memorial commemorates Anthony Newman, who died in 1791.
