Description

The Newman monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 4 meters north-east of the Goddard monument and north of the north-east chapel of the Church of St. Bartholomew. It dates from around 1800 and is made of ashlar stone. The tomb features a moulded base and cornice, baluster corners, and two low relief plaques on each side. An urn is carved between the plaques on the south side, while a foliate spray is found between the plaques on the north side. The monument bears an inscription commemorating R. Newman, who died in 1827.
