Description

This building comprises Nos. 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 St Michael's Court, originally a circa 15th-century tithe barn that was remodelled into a school in 1878 by G.E. Street. The building is constructed of rubblestone with a stone slate roof. It has a 4-bay layout. Originally, it was two storeys high with four windows. A two-span schoolroom roof was added to the front in 1878 and has two two-light mullioned and transomed windows with ogee heads, and a square-headed door on the left return. A semi-circular headed door case with a keystone is located to the left of the entrance. At the rear are four two-light windows with ogee heads, altered in the 20th century, separated by weathered buttresses. The gable end features a central weathered buttress and four 20th-century windows to both the ground and first floors; angle buttresses define the corners, and a narrow trefoil-headed lancet window is set into the gable.
