Description

The Rowden monument, located in the graveyard 5 metres south of the east bay of the nave of the Church of St. Mary, is a double chest tomb dating from the 18th or early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features a corniced table and a moulded base. The tomb has recessed corner balusters and two raised panels on each face, along with oval panes at the ends. It commemorates James Rowden, who died in 1819, as well as his wife and family. The enclosing railings have been removed.
