Description
Manor House is a house dating back to the 15th century, with significant alterations in the late 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. The construction is of dispersed coursed flint, brick, and clunch, with some areas rebuilt using brick and flint in a laced pattern, and further alterations employing laced brick with limestone ashlar. The roof is thatched. The original house likely comprised two bays with a central cross passage. A third bay was added to the east end, projecting as a small front gable, and the original structure was raised and re-windowed with 3-light, ovolo-moulded windows. An original arched doorway to the front, and a doorway to the new wing featuring an anse de panier arch, are now blocked. The present entrance is an 18th-century door under a thatched porch, leading to the cross passage at the rear. An 18th-century brick wing, now containing the kitchen, was added later. Some windows have been replaced with 12- and 16-pane sashes, notably in the early 19th century, with one front wing window featuring a rough-hewn monolithic frame. A central stack has diagonally set shafts. The interior is not of particular interest.
