Description

This milestone, located opposite St Marie's Grange, dates from the 18th century or early 19th century. It features a cast-iron triangular pillar with two cast-iron shields. The northern shield indicates a distance of 2 miles to Salisbury, while the southern shield shows a distance of 20 miles to Southampton. The Southampton to Salisbury Turnpike was completed around 1775. This milestone was previously listed under the parish of Clarendon Park but was removed from the list on 11 October 2017. Additionally, this entry underwent a minor amendment on the same date.
