Description
Kennel Farmhouse is a farmhouse with its gable facing the road, dating from the 17th and 19th centuries. It features a timber frame that is clad in tile hanging, with some of the frame replaced in brick. The roof is tiled. The building consists of three bays, with a forward parlour wing added around 1910, which is entirely brick, and at the rear, there is a single-storey bakehouse extension. There is a stack located between the second and third bays and another stack at the rear of the first bay, which is closest to the road. The south side has a boarded door leading to the forward wing and tripartite paned windows. Inside, the upper floor reveals exposed framing, including jowled posts and corner braces, with some surviving wattle and daub infilling. There are panelled doors throughout. The roof is said to contain unlit servants' rooms, although these have not been seen. The rear extension features a large fireplace and a corner bake oven, along with a leaded window.
