Description
This is a circa 1862, three-storey terrace of two houses, built as part of road widening works. The front is constructed of ashlar and features two windows per house, each with eared and shaped architraves. The windows are glazing bar sashes; the second floor has single-hung sashes, while the first floor of No. 6 has plate glass, and the lower sashes of the first floor of No. 5 also have plate glass. A cill band runs along the first floor, with a moulded cill string above the second floor. A moulded cornice and parapet tops the building, featuring balustraded panels above the windows and moulded coping.
The ground floor has a unified design with a cornice and a common fascia, supported by four Doric pilasters. The ground floor now contains two modern shop fronts and a central panelled door with a rectangular light containing glazing bars above.
The rear of No. 6 was formerly a printing works, constructed of brick with stone detailing and including a two-storey glazing bar sash window.
Nos 5 to 7 form a group with Nos 9 and 10.
