5/265 Farmbuildings at Upper Chicksgrove Farm
GV II
Wrongly shown on OS Map as Quarry Farm. Complete group of farm buildings east of Quarry Farmhouse (q.v.). Dated 1833 on west gable of south range, for Wyndhams of Dinton. Dressed limestone, Welsh slate roofs with coped verges. E-plan enclosing 2 yards. Two-storey cowshed to north, built on bank; six segmental-headed doorways with small square vents to ground and first floor of south side, north side has square and segmental-headed doorways to upper floor, segmental-headed loft doors at gable ends. East range has open-fronted shelter sheds facing north yard; elliptical-arched openings on square stone piers, barn projecting to west from east range has large elliptical opening on north and south side. South yard has large barn on east side with central elliptical -headed openings on east and west sides, narrow loopholes either side. South combination range of stables with granary over has square and elliptical openings and square vents, apex of west gable has date 1833 carved in relief. Interiors of barns and stables have queen post trusses to roof, central projecting barn has cruck-like timber in east wall, probably reset. Also see Ham Cross Farm buildings (q.v.).
