Description

The property is a farmhouse, now a detached house, dating to 1833. It was built for the Wyndham family of Phillips House, Dinton. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar with a Welsh slate hipped roof and an axial stone stack. The south front has two storeys and three windows. A central six-panelled door is topped by a semi-circular fanlight within a pilastered pedimented case, flanked by twelve-pane sashes. A sill band runs along the first floor, above which are three twelve-pane sashes. A convex stone eaves cornice adorns the roof. The left return has a twelve-pane sash and a blind sash to both the ground and first floors. The right return features a canted bay with sashes and a four-light flush mullioned casement to the ground floor, with two sashes to the first floor. The rear elevation incorporates a two-light mullioned casement and a sash to the right, accessed by a covered passage leading to a service range. The rear service range has three two-light flush mullioned casements, modern garage doors to the west side, and planked doors with a slate canopy facing the farmyard. Modern roof lights are also present. The interior is said to contain a staircase with stick balusters, window shutters and six-panelled doors. The front of the property is enclosed by stone garden walls with cast iron double gates. It is one of a group of well-preserved early 19th century farmhouses in the Nadder Valley, built for the Wyndham family; other similar farmhouses include Ham Cross Farm and Ley Farm, Teffont.
